The wood talks to me.
No kidding.
A raw piece of wood tells me its potential - how to rough cut it and prepare it for our adventure on the lathe.
As the wood spins I hear the pleasant sound of the bowl gouge making a proper cut.
Sometimes it whines or grumbles , telling me the cut is wrong or there is dangerous fault in the wood.
Occasionally, it roars as it flies to pieces. (yes, I wear a mask)
And lastly, the finished piece screams with beauty, depth and proper form.
Ah!
There is a lot more that goes into creating turned wood art.
But it is my personal relationship with each piece of wood that makes it special.
